The true history of tiramisu has been the centre of intense debates and regional rivalries for years!
The Veneto region has long asserted that it is the birthplace of this iconic dessert, first served at Le Beccherie restaurant in Treviso in the early 1970s. However, compelling evidence in the form of a handwritten recipe dating back to 1959 suggests that it was actually a chef at the Albergo Roma hotel in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region who invented the delicacy.
We tend to side with the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, as it is also the birthplace of our very own Italian treasures, Annie and Manny!
