Our story begins at my parents’ small bistro and gelateria in Northeast Italy. From an early age, I watched my mother and father prepare simple, delicious food from scratch and serve it up with classic Italian hospitality and warmth. Many years later, when my family relocated to Canada, we brought with us our passion for food and Little Place was born.
My wife Lindsay and I worked with my parents to design a menu featuring my mother’s time-honoured recipes for gnocchi, lasagna, pizza, pasta and, of course, my father’s gelato. Today, my parents are regulars in the bustling Little Place kitchen, whether they’re rolling out the pasta, seasoning sauces, or mixing the gelato. Lindsay keeps the books and stays on top of the paperwork. It’s definitely a family affair here!
Now, it’s been over 13 years that we’ve been welcoming locals and tourists alike, never compromising that same commitment to quality that was born on the cobblestone streets of Italy. What brings people back is simple. We source the freshest produce available and import our olive oils, prosciutto and other Italian staples right from the heart of our mother country. As my father says, “good enough isn’t an option.” We make food that we’re proud to serve, that is a fitting tribute to the beauty and flavours of the country we love so dearly. And we love nothing more than sharing this passion with you! – Manny Buttus, Owner
